I have 2 last minute kids. Do you have one? You know what I mean, the kid who comes in from school & says, “I have to have this for tomorrow!”. Gee, thanks for the notice! This weeks must have was orange. Not the fruit but the colour of clothes. It was free dress today at the primary school to raise money for the flood victims. Great cause, yes I will support it. But she had no orange clothes. There was apricot, salmon even coral but nooooooooo, she had to wear orange. So off I went to the shop to find the orange top that she so badly wanted. I returned with one that still wasn’t quite orange enough. Too bad! So off to the craft cupboard we went. No orange ribbon. But I did have an orange butterfly! So with a little hot glue, hair clip & a butterfly…I got my creative on!
It took longer for the hot glue to heat up than what it did to make it!
And now we had one orange butterfly hairclip, a coral coloured top & a smiling kid!
It is always worth it all to see that smile!
Why is it that schools pick colours for free dress fundraising days that are not always an “easy” colour?
Why not have a blue day?
Or a green day?
Even a red day!
I suppose it’s not as bad as when the kids have forgotten to mention a dress up day at school & I have been up all night sewing a puppy dog costume, a mermaid costume & of course I have done a witch costume under extreme time constraints.
So tell me, do you have a last minute kid too?
What has your child come to you at the last minute & said they have to have?
No matter how many noticeboards you have, reminder notes on the fridge or even alarms on your phone….something always seems to be last minute in our house.
